Ideas depend on people articulating thoughts in speech to human audiences that can act on these ideas. In any hegemony, events, activities, and relationships have certain meanings depending on how prevailing ideologies are systematically incorporated and expressed. Ideologically speaking, we are conscious of our social relations because we live those relations and because we give meaning to the way we live. In short, knowledge is a product of social interaction among humans. This is crucial for any hegemony because the basis for consent is directly dependent on how the subordinates express, understand, and act out existing relations.
